Adipogen is now Verva
In December, 2007, Adipogen Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd. merged with Autogen Research Ltd. (formerly the diabetes-focused subsidiary of Chemgenex Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; ASX:CXS) to form Verva Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Verva is an exciting, clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of innovative therapies to treat metabolic diseases.
Verva's corporate headquarters are located in Geelong, Australia. The Company's research infrastructure is housed in the Metabolic Research Unit of Deakin University; a state-of-the-art facility with comprehensive in vitro and in vivo capabilities dedicated to the discovery and development of novel pharmaceuticals.
Verva Portfolio
Verva's lead product VVP808 is a novel insulin sensitizer for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. VVP808 was identified using Verva's proprietary Gene Expression Signature (GES) discovery technology and has a completely different mode of action to existing diabetes medicines. VVP808 is expected to enter clinical safety and efficacy testing in the second half of 2008.
Supporting VVP808, Verva has a strong discovery and preclinical pipeline including:
• Proprietary next-generation insulin sensitizers based on the VVP808 mode of action
• Fat formation inhibitors with potential application in the prevention and treament of obesity; drug-induced weight gain; and
fat-related complications such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease
• Novel small-molecule insulin secretion modulators
